I don't want to be a police officer or in security or anything with inmates. I would love to be a dispatcher etc... I am 30 and have 2 children and can't get the time to work, go to school, and be a wife and mother. I want a degree with a broad scope, but I am really unsure of online courses. I'm not sure I will get the best education. Here's one of my questions: What kind of degrees do crime scene photographers have? or what could i do with counseling in the law enforcement field? I need websites and I can't find them!!! I have no idea what to pursue in college or what college is looked at best in this field....
Well Beth, considering you don't want to work with inmates, maybe criminal justice isn't for you. You see, most of the jobs work with "criminals" in the criminal justice field. Whether it's probation,parole,correction officer, etc...you'll end up working with the criminal element. You could try majoring in counseling or psychology with a minor in criminal justice which would enable you to do be more diverse in future employment opportunities. Most CSI take their own photos of the crime scene, so unless you want to be a csi, chances are slim for that. Any degree you can obtain will be useful for you in the future, so in other words, there is no online education that is better than another one.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
UPDATED: not all jailers or dispatchers require degrees. contact them...it could save you time and $$$$. :}
