Pay or not? |
You know how the malls have Santa Clause available for pictures by the photographers....well the photo packages they have for you to buy are pretty expensive...is it tacky and cheap to have your children pose with Santa and take the picture with your own digital camera or are you required to buy the packages? Unfortunately, since they are providing a service, it would be considered rude to snap your own. Santa at the mall has to get a paycheque, and those picture prices pay for that. Now that being said, they are expensive, and I think it's ridiculously stupid to be charging the amounts they are. But it's yet another example of how commercialized the entire holiday has become. Check your community listings .... you'll likely find community centers putting on christmas parties for kids where Santa makes an appearance, and then it doesn't cost you a thing to snap a few pictures. Kids shouldn't have to be disappointed because the local mall wants to charge $20 for Santa to hear their wishlist. it is tacky, but who cares. you are darn right those things are expensive. it's tacky and insanely funny. Unless the store has a no camera policy, I'd be for taking my own pictures i dont see a problem with it. every child deserves to have a pic w/ santa. its a tradition and not everyone can afford to pay for pics. Look for places that offer free pics. Cycle barn last year had free pics with santa on a quad and my son loved it. I would think you could take your own picture. Is there a rule that you can't? If not, snap your own. |
