Media, Press, News???? Time for a change? |
Is it time that we as media consumers demand more fair journalism from the main stream media outlets? Why do we need to be inendated with programs and sound bites of the latest celeb in rehab, or being arrested? Lindsey and Perris don't need any more attention. I mean do you realize we are refering to a woman with child as having a "baby bump" (thats just to Bratz for me). I was arrested once and I spent a day in county, no photos, no scandal sheets, no reporters, just in , booked, lock up for 6 hours and out. why don't these enthusiastic journalists and photographers investivate more political agendas, get to the bottom of CEO's and Police and Judges, and Dr's and Lawyers commiting crimes. And don't get me started on politicians, they spend more time these days working to get a vote and stay elected than they do providing the service we elect them to. (Especially congress) WHO CAN SURVIVE ON $5.85 AN HOUR IN THIS COUNTRY????? politicians and celebs? NOT. The only way to change the way news is covered is to stop watching the channels that don't really cover news but are more of a gossip column. The problem with that is that it seems a large majority of tv viewers are obsessed with celebrities and their lives. TV news covers whatever brings in the ratings numbers, not necessarily what is news. I agree! The following of a story such as Paris' was just incomprehensible to me! The media seemed to glorify the actions of "girls gone wild." Paris, Britney, Lindsay, Anna Nichole" and so forth! How sad that this would be the focus when we have so many other REAL ISSUES to contend with! I think the media is trying to give the people what they WANT! Not, what we need. However, what we need is accurate reporting on the issues which face our nation and our lives. You would think after the death of Princess Diana, that the hungry reporters would learn to stop this madness and be the journalist/photojournalists they are suppose to be! Instead, it was top dollar for a pic of her dying! This says a lot about the state of the "truth?" the media seems to be caught up in. Yellow jingoism gone awry! MY thoughts on this I agree with you....but the sicking thing is that it is what the people buy...junk. The reason that all is lost is because no one really cares about what is real...they love the drama...women sitting for hours a day watching soap operas and really thinking so and so is with who ever. People are desensitized. The ones who actually should be in the news are not. And if you see any preacher slips up or so 'religious' figure and they are smeared in the worst negative way, where as the 'today's stars' will be smiled upon for their bad boy/girl ways... Publicity is what they call it...it is a shame that the whole media is like this...they could be doing stories on missionary kids out there trying to make a difference, or the military families waiting on their loved ones to come home, mentors...not over rated/glorified self inflicted stars trying to keep the spot light on them. God help them, I feel sorry for them really..the media and the whole entertainment business....and they 'really' think they are loved...... |
