As a young child, what were your aspirations? |
As a little kid, when my sisters & I would go skating on the pond, I would pretend to be a professional figure skater. As I grew older, I wanted to be an Astronomer. Then, in my early teens, I wanted to become a rock journalist or professional photographer and follow rock bands such as Van Halen and Bon Jovi. In my teens, I wanted to work in a big corporate office in NYC or some other big city. Then, I wanted to join Green Peace and protest against polluters. (*mind you, none of these worked out for me.....) I wanted to ride horses profesionaly......I wanted to be on the US Olympic Equastrian team..but then high school and college..came then hubby and kids....I hope I make help make my kids dreams come true and not let them slide like I did mine.... I wanted to be a fire fighter/rock star. Neither worked out for me either, but I was able to support myself for a while on my music, so I kinda got to live the dream. That was enough for me. I always wanted to be a teacher...I had the greatest third grade teacher who was pretty and had great hair and clothes...my dream was to teach so that I could wear high heels! When you're in third grade, that's what it's all about, right? Once I became a teacher, I realized that looking good and high heels don't even scratch the surface! Happy New Year! I also wanted to be an ice-skater and a travel journalist. I did work as a travel agent and tour escort for about 12 years and got some great shots (photographs)! I also did work part time for a local newspaper (and wrote a few features and brief stories). That was a really fun job! When i was a kid, I wanted to be a professional bike stuntsman like Matt Hoffman and go in the X-Games. My early teens were set aside for skating, Nintendo 64 (sweet), and bowling. My later teens were spent playing guitar, skateboarding, music and surfing the internet. 17-22 were for in the military for being an electrician, but that interest dropped quickly, regardless of how good at troubleshooting I am. Now, having just gotten out of the military, I still play guitar, surf the internet, play the ocarina, still listen to tons of music, I'm trying to pick up skateboarding again, and I'm about to get a job out of Chicago working for Caterpillar. Lots of aspirations, but one goal at a time. |
