Do people hate music on websites?

I'm getting ready to revamp my site. I was looking for royalty free music when I came upon a thread that said most people won't go back to your site if it has music.

btw: I'm a photographer...wedding, children among other things.

I think music is annoying. It's also a bit amateur in my opinion. If you must have it, make it so it doesn't start when the page loads.

if the music isn't annoying and lasts for about 30 seconds it should be fine.

make a play list of songs that are stoppable if they dont like the music... music is a great addition to a website. Good Luck :D

i hate music on websites.... i will be listening to my music on itunes or whatever.. then i'll go to a site... and hear two songs going on at once, it's very annoying. as long as you give the option of turning it off it might be okay

Music is okay as long as it is subtle and not in your face. Also I'd reccomend having large obvious buttons to turn it off.

um, I don't mind music on web sites most times
but there are those other times when the music chosen if off the beaten track (for me) and is loud, at first scary, and then annoying

if you could give the option to turn the music off and pick a song that doesn't sound like nails on a chalkboard

of course not! it brings life to a page or blog and besides, it expresses the thing that something want to express..several people don't like it cause maybe the songs aren't too good so beware.. you must pick the latest and coolest songs//
