I asked a similar question but still wasn't really able to choose. I'm looking for a digital camera but I need some help. I want to get the absolute best camera that I can but I have a couple of limitations.
The camera needs to be within the $125-$190 price range
It has to be able to be purchased at Wal-mart unfortunately
I want it to be fairly compact.
I want it to take good pictures and great videos with good sound quality.
I also really like the ones with the "face detection technology"
I just want to know what you guys would buy if you were in my shoes and why? There is a camera that I really love but the problem is that it's not very compact at all. If only there was something with all the same great features with a more sleek design. (I'll be carrying it around a bunch)
Here's the Camera http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d... Try this one instead:

Compact, nice looking. But the Canon A570 IS is a better choice, only not as compact. The Canon A560 is good, but has no image stabilization.
You can't have everything in a small package.
In your shoes, I'd get the A570 IS. However, if I were a teen girl, I'd get the Fujifilm because it's small and red. First of all, have you seen the A560 in person? It's not horribly big...
If you can go to $229 (WalMart price), you can get the Canon SD1000 which has all of the features on your wish list, including being "fairly compact." In fact, I don't know of a more compact digital camera at the moment. There might BE one, but I just don't know about it. This camera is tiny.
That's what I would buy if I was in your shoes.
You can go to Flickr and see about a million and a half images made with the SD1000, but just look at this one...

Maybe you have gift certificates to use or something, but you can get the SD1000 for $20 cheaper at B&H Photo, which is available through Yahoo! Shopping. MANY of us buy there all the time. Go for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50. It's about $180 and it's an excellent camera. You're not going to find a camera this good for the price. |
