Compact vs. Point-and-Shoot?

What is the difference between a compact digital camera and a point-and-shoot digital camera? Which is better for higher quality photos?

They could be the same. Point and shoot is calibrated for auto focusing, most cameras have it now. For higher quality pictures, you need a digital camera that mimics an SLR, preferably not less that 8.0 density, and interchangeable lenses. The price has gone down from $4,000.00 to about $600.00, perhaps even less by now.
