I'm thinking about buying a digital camera in the near future?

I'm an older teen and I think one would be very useful. Are there any cameras that you would recomend, or any websites to compare cameras? Any type of help or advice is great. Thanks!

Low chance of getting poor quality if you stick to this list.

Canon Powershot SD400 and SD600 are some of the best consumer compacts. Those compacts have a very important plus: you can always have them with you. If you buy a more bulky camera, it'll be more often left at home. If you need very good quality: SLR is needed. See the above mentioned link. They are expensive and bulky, though.

DON'T go for Sony. They used malware on their audio CD's. The malware made it possible for viruswriters to do ANYTHING with the harddisk, and the user couldn't find the virus.
Even after those facts were in the news, they would not admit they were doing wrong. They still will not. They even won't say that they will keep away of those kind of techniques in the future. Sony needs to be boycotted until they will FULLY admit they were FULLY wrong.
BTW, Sony uses incompatible memory sticks. They are only compatible with Sony devices.

Don't ever go for a cheap/unknown brand, like Trust of Sweex.

More then 5 megapixels are hardly needed. The more megapixels, the bigger the files.
Remember: EVERY harddisk will fail sooner or later. For photo backups i recommend: TDK scratchproof with UV-protection DVD(R) discs.
Especially if buying cheaper discs: DON'T put them in sunlight, they will become unreadable.

hi that's great you can go to sears.com or walmart or bestbuy.com

Sony cybershot cameras are great qualityand atest technology.look into them. Also a good place to buy would be ebay where you can get a low price.

I have a fuji fine pix and love it. I could e mail you a picture from it. Its very easy to run. I also have owned a kodak, and liked it to. I think they are even easier to run. I did have problems with running the program with my computer.

Just do a bit of research on whatever website. Make sure you check all the details. Sometimes more MegaPixels doesn't always mean better lol. it also helps to actually look at the camera in store, and it helps if they let you take pics with it. good luck with your search, having a digital camera is a must.

Go to http://dpreview.com/. This site has comprehensive reviews of nearly all digital cameras. If you really want to get the right camera for you, it's worth slogging through the details.
