Canon Vs Sony?

I am a confident and proud Canon owner. reallly, see them as the best.
I am planning on buying a 550$ Canon G9(12mp,2500 shutter,1,1/7ccd,3 inch screen,Overall very nice)
BUT, but i JUST found out that sony has a cure for my Canon obsession, its called the W300,
running at 350$ in May, 13 mp, 2.7 inch screen, mp3 song capable, basically identical to the G9(but better)

and i am wondering, u Sony owners. How are your cameras? how are they compared to canon,

it wil; save me a few $$$ if the sony would turn out the winner. Please,Sony OWNERS tell me how u like ur cameras

There is a reason why Sony is so much cheaper... You get what you pay for. Canon is a camera maker with history and integrity. Their cameras are tested with years of adjustment and expertise. Sony is TV maker... They entered camera market with birth of digital, which is not that long ago. And even though, they were the pioneers on the digital front - they are still not exactly camera company.

Have you seen a Canon TV on a market yet? If you see one, would you buy Canon TV or Sony TV? Most likely Sony. Because sony has proven to be one of the best TV makers.

P.S. Oh, and for that money you can actually buy an SLR, unless compact size is your deciding factor!

CANON DEF

For that price pay a small bit more and buy a DSLR!

Pretty much NOTHING other than fitting in your pocket is an advantage for a point and shoot over a DSLR, even the highly touted G9.

HTH

The reason why Canons are so expensive is all the MARKETING they do. That's what your paying for.

For that price (acutally $50 cheaper), buy a Nikon D40 with the standard 18-55mm kit lens: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controll...

It's far superior.

Canon and Nikon are the leaders in the DSLR world and there is a reason for that. Neither is a better camera it comes down to personal preference. You cannot make a wrong decision when buying Nikon or Canon.

Sony makes a very nice DSLR but imo Canon and Nikon have way more selection when it comes to lenes and have years of experience in the business of making professional cameras.
