also easy to use!!!

p.s i have seen the fuji A600 any comments on it, is it any good?

Get the Panasonic Lumix TZ1

Its great for the price, its got loads of great fearure, amazing zoom and top rated pictures.

Heres a quick run down.

Megapixels5.37Mp(5Mp effective)

Zoom range10x

Shutter speed60-1/2000sec

Storage type13.4Mb Internal, SD card slot

Battery typeLithium-ion

Sensor dimensions1/1.65-inch

Lens focal length35-350mm

Exposure modesP,A,S,M

ISO range80-1600

Dimensions58x40x112mm

Weight262g

problem is that is uses AA batteries, they never last that long in digital cams, so its best to go for a camera that has its own battery, this makes the cam last longer, small in size and cheaper in the longrun.

HP or olympus

sony 6 megapixel

I have a sony DSC W100 8.1 it is really good. You can go into any store, ie best buy, circuit city, walmart and check them out yourself. Also you want to get a camera with a higher optical zoom rather than a digital zoom. Because if the digital is higher than the optical it takes away from your megapixels.

A good range of models come in Canon and Nikon but anything small and compact for your purse has to be Olympus; something small, easy and discrete to use is what you may be looking for. Something light and using only one or two optional rechargeable batteries.

ive got a fuji finepix f455.
nice size, easy to use and top notch pictures.
highly recommended

Consumer Reports for November 2006 has ranked the Canon Powershot A620 as the best compact digital camera. It is becoming almost a legend for longevity at the top of various consumer lists. It looks like this model has been replaced by the A630, which I would expect to be just as popular. The A640 appears quite similar and shares the "600" series numbering, so I guess it's just another upgraded version of the now-classic A620. It looks pretty much the same except for baing a 10 MP camera. The continuous drive is a little slower, but the files are larger, so that's no surprise. I own a few Nikon DSLR's and I'd buy the Canon A630 or A640 for myself.

With this camera, you will find the memory card is a cute little token of thanks from Canon, but not much more. Buy a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the increased capacity and write speed to fully realize the benefits of your camera.

If you want to trim the budget a little, the Canon Powershot A430, A530 or A540, are all great choices. You will still need a decent memory card as discussed above, though.

I have an Olympus myself and find it really easy to use. It has auto focus, Portrait, Landscape, Night vision.and lots of other extras.

Anytime someone ask a question about what's the best camera or which one should buy, you'll see almost all the camera's brand name came out. I wonder if the person who ask the question will get more confuse after asking the question here because after posting the question? They now have more options to look at than before asking the question.

My advise to anyone who wants to get a new camera is to list all their requirement here first (budget, size preferences, kind of pictures that they'll be taking mostly...etc). This usually narrow down to a few models out there. Than, go down to a camera store and check out the real thing. After that, do some research on dpreview.com or cnet.com and see what users are saying about those cameras. You'll usually find yourself have the decision after these process.
