I am considering buying two different digital cameras. One has 7.2 MP with 12X optical zoom, the other 10.1 MP with 3X optical/2X digital zoom. The 7.2 promises that I can reproduce images as clear as 35 mm film. The other, I'm sure would be as good. I want a camera that gives me great, clear pics of both kids and of landscapes. I've researched the matter over and over, but I want the opinion of photographers out there. Please help! The price of the two are about the same and the features are similar...even the brand is the same. It just comes down to MP vs optical zoom.
The two cameras in question are the Sony 7MP 12x DSC-H5/B and the Sony 10.1MP Cybershot DSCN2. Any information anyone can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!! Image quality has almost nothing to do with mega pixel but everything else. And digital zoom is almost useless. You most likely will have better image quality by cropping your photo in your computer than using digital zoom in your digital camera. If you are going for the H5, consider the Canon S3 IS. It is a better camera and they are about the same price.

If there are too many pixels on a ccd or cmos sensor the quality can be decreased - optics over megapixels The two cameras in different class. The N2 is a point and shoot camera. Don't buy into the mega pixel hype. 3x zoom is hardly a zoom lens. I would go with the H5. However, if you are looking for a point and shoot, H5 is too big for you. |
