I am looking into buying my mom a digital camera for mother's day, what kind do you recommend?

I am looking to spend $200, maybe $300. Is any brand better than any other in that price range? Is there anything else I should know?

I have a sony cybershot with 7.2 megapixels. If she is computer savvy and uses the camera a lot, then I would say sure get one with the high pixels. If all she would do is print them out to 5 x 7 at max or email pics, then she really doesn't need anything over a 4 mp camera. Canon has some nice ones as does sony for under $300. Don't forget to get an extra memory card with at least 128 mb if she's taking pics at the maximum quality the camera goes. Otherwise a 64 mb card should be just fine. Also if she uses the video clip feature some cameras do, that takes up a lot of space. Good luck.

Most digital cameras are the same nowadays, regardless of manufacturer. Shop around, and see what features are common, and pick one that you think your mom will like.

I personally like HP, mainly for some of the extra features and the tech support if something goes wrong.

I have an Olympus D-360L Camedia digital and I'm pleased with it. it's not too complicated for me to operate, yet it's complex enough to take very nice pics. Be sure to have a way to send pics in e-mails/such.. the only thing i would add to mine would be a zoom lens.. I'd say that would be a good option to look for.. as well as having lots of room on camera card! good luck.. and thanks for being nice to your Mom.. :-)
