Best Camera?

What is the best digital camera for the price? My wife is interested in buying a digital camera but I do not know much about them,

There are many good cameras out there but the question is which one answers your requirement the most. So, first of all, you need to ask yourself the purpose of buying a digital camera.

Since you are buying a camera for your wife, I assume you need a compact digital camera, not a digital SLR (which is for serious photographers). But then how big so you want your camera to be? There's a tradeoff between the slick sub-compact design and image quality.

Also will you be making big prints? If so, then you need a camera that needs more resolution (quantified by pixel count). You can make a lager size print from a camera with higher (mega)pixels.

Then you need to find out the zoom capability you need. Most compact cameras in the market start their zoom capability from 3x which is enough for a lot of people. Unless you need more creative control in the zoom department, 3x would be sufficient.

There are specific details that you need to ask yourself. Will you be taking pictures of children or things happening at spur of the moment? Under low light situation? If that's the case, Fuji F30 would be a good choice. It costs less than $399.

Weather-proof cameras (against rain, snow or dust)? Olympus makes ones.

Canon also makes good cameras. Just need to check out the one that fits your requirement.

To reduce burry pictures from handshake, image stabiliztion is also a nice tool to have. This is a feature in some models of Panasonic, Canon, and many more.

from $60 (suck kind) to like thousands of dollars (the best cuz of lots of features included).. for your wife, i think about $299.99-$399.99 it should be a decent digital camera. also, you can try searching on yahoo for different types of digital cameras. good luck!!

It depends , of course, what you're going to do with it ... I have Canon 530 4 mega pixels. I got it on eBay with a gigabyte memory card, new .... for about $170.

There are certainly more pricey Canon

I would look at Canon and Sony, in the $200 to $300 range. Get 4 or more mp, 4x zoom, and she should be happy.

Pretty good for the price.

The Panasonic Lumix FZ7 is one of the best cameras on the market in your price range. It has the largest optical zoom of any non-SLR camera (12x). It has a 2.5" LCD screen with a High-Angle mode that allows you to take pictures easily in crowds. It also has a simple mode for beginners and a full manual mode for more advanced users. Its video is superb. Even better, it comes with a lens adapter and lens hood to minimize glare.
I bought this camera a month ago and am very pleased with it. I can take closeup pictures of things from so far away. It is light and small for the amazing zoom you get. I would highly recommend this camera.
