Does anyone recommend a specific model digital camera for <$200?

I was looking at the Nikon Coolpix L11 and L12, specifically. They're both under $200. Does anyone have one of them & would recommend it? Or maybe you know of a different camera that's better for around the same price?

Thanks everybody! A couple more pieces of info that will be helpful to respondants: I can't have a camera with rechargeable batteries b/c I'm moving to Spain & wouldn't be able to recharge them, and I want something small, light & easy to use.

The best camera for under $200 is the Canon A550

* 7.1 Megapixel
*4X Optical Zoom
* Very good photo quality, noise levels low through ISO 400 (in good light)
* Well built for the price
* Very good performance
* LCD visible in low light
* Some manual controls
* AF-assist lamp, good low light focusing
* Good movie and continuous shooting modes
* Impressive software bundle
* Uses AA batteries; great battery life
* USB 2.0 High Speed support

I have the A510 an earlier model with less megapixels..
but it's the best camera I ever owned...

Alot of fun.. Report It

The Cannon PowerShot A630 is an AWESOME camera for right around $200.00. I have always been a Canon fan even when I did photography in HS and College with my manual and auto 35 mm cameras. I also do like Nikons, but if you are going to spend that much, I'd upgrade (in my opinion) to the Canon PS A630. It is about to be taken off the market for the next PS to come out, and I was able to get mine at Circuit City for under $200. Shop around for the best price... I recommend going to circuit city to play with them... If there's one they have but don't have a model out, or a model isn't working they'll take one out and put batteries in it for you to play with a little bit....

8.0 Mega Pixels
4X optical zoom
a 2.5 inch lcd screen that rotates and opens and closes like one on a camcorder.
It has manual and auto settings
LOTS of modes to play with and learn
2 additional lenses may be purchased (one wide and one telescopic)
Canon software is pretty good for free... I use it a lot...
There is a "photo stitch" mode that you can take several photos and "stitch" them together for a panoramic shot

JUST A GREAT CAMERA I GUARANTEE YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!

The Nikon Coolpix L12 has Image Stabilization and a slight edge on optical zoom and pixel count on the sensor.

Buy the L12. You will love it.

Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
4. It's very small and light;
5. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
6. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
7. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
8. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
9. And the price is a mere $99 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Review(s) can be found at www.amazon.com [Query: "Nikon Coolpix L10" along with pictures provided by satisfied purchasers.]

Good luck!

try canon A570 IS (image stabilizer).
