Im in the midst of searching for a new digital camera and im looking for an opinion on this specific one?

i found saw it on the shopping channel, its a great price. i just want to make sure that the specs are good for it, since i dont know much about technical stuff like this. my main wants out of a camera is that the flash recharges quickly (because my current camera take 20 -30 seconds to recharge, too long!!) and also that i can turn off the flash and not have to stay absolutely still and still have the picture look good. i also want to make sure that it will take clean, crisp photos since i also enjoy taking pictures of nature as a hobby (so close-up focusing is important as well).

anyone with any input on this camera or things to look for, i would greatly appreciate.

And it can be found at http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_revi... if you want another opinion. It's not a bad camera and the price is not bad. I am guessing that the shopping channel is just an outlet that you are familiar with, but there are several places to buy the camera.

It's by no means a bad move, but we could help you spend your money a little differently. I agree with Ignacio's suggestion to check out the Canon A630 for about the same money. Yeah, it's a bit bigger, but it's much more camera for the money.

Okay. This is a good camera for a beginner. The website you gave does not give specifications about flash, or image stabilization; so i do not know if you will have to stay perfectly still. Also, it will take pretty clear photos with its 6 mega pixels. You might want to look for some other camera though. Cannon i know had a lot of very good cameras with long battery life, quick flash, and image stabilization at a moderately low price. GOOD LUCK!

The sony w50 isn't a bad camera. It's widely available for ~$200, but is now over a year old. Not a long time in most industries, but a whole generation or more in the fast moving world of digital cameras.

It's a good camera- but there are better out there. The fuji F20 comes to mind, and it's available even cheaper.

This is a good camera brand. It has a better flash, but not using a flash can blur your pictures if you shake the camera while pressing the shutter no matter what camera you pick. Go ahead, its a good price.

I honestly don't feel very happy with the quality of Sony cameras.

Also, the website you're ordering from is probably not offering you the best deal.

I hate to give specific models or shops, but If I were you I would go for the Canon Powershot A630 that's $216 at BH. Again I've got no affiliation with them whatsoever, I'm just a happy customer.
