I want to buy a good digital SLR camera. For the price range of 拢800 I have short listed two (Nikon D80 and Canon eos 40D). The trouble is I don't really need all the extras such as very fast action (6 shots per min etc). I would much prefer to pay this sort of money for the camera which takes the best quality photos in still form, landscape etc.
Any ideas or recommendations?
Steve If you wanted to save some money I would recommend getting the Nikon D40x and buying some nice glass with your savings. I'm a professional and absolutely cannot stand the Canon system. On my Nikons all the settings that I change and adjust constantly are all at my finger tips. The camera just gets out of my way to make great images. The Canon's I've used in the past had a lot of the settings I use buried in confusing menus. I hope that they've fixed this by now but haven't used any of their newer models so could not say for sure.
They'll give similar results pretty much. If you were doing sports or action, I would recommend going with a higher end model from either of these makers. But since you don't need the faster frame rates I would think that the D40x would suit your needs and leave you with quite a bit of money to invest in good lenses. |
