Can digital photos be downloaded to.....and kept on just any computer?

I am soon to go on a long vacation and am cancelling all home utilities including the server to my computer. I have been told I will be unable to access my computer hence none of my photographs which are stored in file documents. Where can I transmit the photos I will take while away, if I happen to run out of room on the camera's memory card?

interesting dilemma......

You could bring blank CD's with you and find a cafe that would let you burn the pictures to CD from their computer.

You could bring a large hard drive with you and transfer the pics from card to USB hard drive using someone's computer.

Either that or buy a couple more 1 GB memory cards.

Get one or two extra flash memories. Some come in sizes up to 8GB. For a 4MP camera that would be about 8,000 pictures.

You can buy a portable harddrive. Like a mini USB drive or a bigger travel drive. You can find at most electronics or camera supply stores, like Best Buy or Kitz Cameras depending on where you live. They have drives with screens where yo ucan see the pictures you upload on there. I'm pretty sure that you can upload directly from the camera, depending on the model. If you have access to a computer, websites like Photobucket.com work. You can upload your pictures and access them anywhere with internet access. Hope this helps and have a great vacation

You do know that you can upload your photos and keep then safe here in the Yahoo world, or in the MSN world so forth. Will you be taking a Laptop/notebook on this long vacation?

You just to have a place where you can access the internet during your travels, you can then upload your photos to yahoo keep them safe here. then when you get home and reconnected to your ISP then you can download the photos from Yahoo to your home computer.

Yahoo world is an option. Unless you want something more secure consider Photomax Free Account with a guarantee. And you might want to consider taking picture with lower MB. Even a 2MB image is good enough for a 4x6 print. If you have a laptop download a resizer freeware that can reduce the image size without drastically reduce the quality for print. yup all good answers ... theres also upload2 ... don't know the exact url but its quick and works well and photo bucket... same as the other. I guess you could email them to yourself also.

There are many places on the web where you can store your photos for free, Yahoo has one of them services, Kodak does, Walmart does, Microsoft MSN too, lots of places on the web you can do that.

Another thing you can do is if you have a flash drive, the bigger capacity the better, then you can use it to store your photos you're taking while away. - Or if you have a portable device with a hard drive like the Creative Zen Vision:M 30 GB or 60 GB (I'm the happy owner of one!) then you can store tons of thousands of photos. - But if you don't want or can't spend to much on such a device, you can always buy yourself a 4 GB or bigger flash drive, or even a couple of big memory cards for your photo camera to swap when you run out of "film" hehe. :)

The ways are almost unlimited. :)

I hope this helped.

Get a flash drive. You can store all your files on it and use it on any PC while you travel if you need to view anything.

1.you can transfer them to a usb memory stick.
2.save them on a cd.
3.if you don't mind you can upload them to an internet group like msn or yahoo wich allow you some "free" space...... i personally recommend the first two you can get copy of your Pics. in any photo dealer or tranfer your files on usb stick using your hotel's / internet PC
