Car borken into and have comprehensive Insurance?

Recently my car was broken into while we were asleep. They broke my passenger window, actually bent the surroundings of the window frame, stole my stereo, rip my dash, took my digital camera( which i'm really not worrying about b/c I have the pics stored on my computer). I filed a police report and insurance claim. The adjuster have already came out to take a look at the car. What will my insurance cover and what's next? I never had to file an insurance claim

The damages to the vehicle will be covered under your comprehensive minus your deductible. The camera is not a part of your vehicle so there is no coverage for the camera under an auto policy. If it is an expensive camera and you have homeowners or renters insurance you would be able to claim the camera under that policy.

You should call the adjuster and speak with them. They will be able to tell you whether they have to total it or if they are sending you a check. When you are dealing with your own insurance company it usually doesn't take long before you receive payment.

They will either decide to pay to repair your car or consider it a totaled vehicle and just pay you for your car minus your deductible. They have the option to choose which way to go. If they decide to go with repair then you are at liberty to choose one of their preferred shops or a shop of your own to do the repair work. If you have rental coverage then they will rent a vehicle for you if not you will have to make your own traveling arrangements while your car is in the shop. If they total it then they will write you out a check for the depreciated value of your car.(What it's worth at the time of incident). Once they pay you your check they will pick up your vehicle cause it now belongs to them.
