I am a college student, I have a dell right now and I guess I got lucky with it b/c it has lasted 3 years, however now everything is going down hill fast. I want an HP laptop, must have good space (which both of these seem to have)I do some gaming but only 3- 7 hours a week, over a period, and i really only have one game that takes alot of cpu to run. I have an MP3 player so I want something good for music and I have a kodak digital camera which I would like to be able to hook up to its softward with out takin (literally) 10 min to load my pics.
These both looked like really good laptops for what I am looking for, so which one do you think is better?

It's ok but not brillant for FPS games such as Ghost Recon AWF (it won't run at all) but ok for Company of Heroes in 800x600 resolution. Anyother non FPS games will be suitable with this video card. Apparently the speakers are reasonable for a laptop, but I still think if you're going to play on a laptop you'll have to have one with SPDIF to connect external speakers or get a USB type speaker set with 2.1 or 4.1 because other than having headphones you won't get much bass from laptop speakers. Any laptop will run fine with d/l digital pictures and storing them on the hdd. The DV9000 has twin hd with 240gb space. Check the specs carefully as there are different variants of this model. Also, the hp besides the higher end model is single lamp so the resultant screen won't be as bright as one that has dual lamp (check sony's laptop screens) I'm not trying to discourage you from buying a HP, I was going to buy one myself but the HP screen's are really glossy including the whole laptop casing is piano finish. I think you got to see the laptop in real life and decide for yourself. Everyones tastes are different. The HP has added features such as remote control for MP3 playing etc. Get whichever one you can afford that has the fastest processor, biggest hard drive and most memory.....at least running XP and if possible either Media Center or Vista (at least home basic as its pretty musch media center anyways)
A Vista capable laptop or pc is going to have more memory and graphics power than one that is made for XP, so if you find one that you can afford tht shows as either pre-loaded with vista or vista ready, go with that one......
as far as your current laptop lasting 3 years, thats not bad considering most laptops life expectancy is around 3-5 years, depending on wear and tear. |
