I love my digital camera. It is nothing fancy, a little 6 megapixel Kodak. It takes GREAT pictures, nice and sharp.
My question is about the size of the files. Most of my pictures seem be HUGE file size, some as big as 1 MB. Is this normal? Or am I not sizing my pictures correctly, or selecting the right file type, or the right camera settings?
I really don't know what I need to correct to make the files a practical size to store or to email to people.
Is the prblem in my camera settings? Or is it something I need to do AFTER I have taken the pictures and sent them to my PC?
I am really clueless, and would appreciated any/all suggestions.
Thanks! 1MB is not huge and can be emailed. I have the settings on my 5 megapixel camera to "fine" (most detail it can store) and the files are about 1.8MB. There are usually settings in the camera for the picture resolution. If you want smaller files choose the lowest resolution. Just be aware that the pictures might start to look grainy when you look at them on a full size monitor or print them out in larger sizes. A little class in digital photography would help you more than you might think.
It is normal to have large files when you shoot using your cameras highest resolution (as you should).
Resizing the images for use for posting on websites or emailing friends, is done using the program that came with your camera. Remember to save your smaller images as a different file name so you don't overwrite your original, high resolution file. |
