Is it better to store my photos my two separate SD cards than one?

I'm buying a new digital camera and I take heaps of photos. Is it better to buy two 2GB SD cards instead of one 4GB? What are the chances of these SD cards breaking down and loosing all my precious photos? I plan to buy Toshiba SD cards.

Cheers.

Only use the SD card to make the camera work. As soon as possible, transfer the pictures to another medium and back them up. That way you got 3 copies of everything.

SD cards are extremely robust, but irritatingly easy to format.

put all ur photos on to a dongle then if your computer breaks down you will still have all your photos and then you only need one card

why dont you transfer your photos to disc every now and then to ensure you wont lose your photos- if your camera was lost/stolen then the sd card would be lost too- i have a spare sd card but honestly i very rarely use it

It depends upon how better you handle your camera. The better handling very less chances of SD card damage.

It is always better to go for 4 GB SD Card as you don't have to change your SD card when you need to take # of photos for long time.

We tend to buy two instead of one with the theory if something happens to one of them at least you do not lose all of your pictures. Get a little case for them. We started doing this out of convience on a cruise we bought two cards. We would fill one and while the photo department transferred one to disc, we still had a card in our camera.

buy 2, becouse I had 1gig card and lost loads of photos as I had to format the card to repair it
