Digital Cameras!!!?

I need a listing of the types of Memory cards and how many pictures that can be stored on it!!!
Just received a new digital camera as a gift but don't know any thing about it.

Such as how many pictures can be taken on a 125GB card, a 250GB card and so on...Help please!!

this site is exactly what you need...just scroll down halfway, and there's a chart how many pictures different size cards can hold. Good luck!

Does it come with a manual? If not, find the website for the camera and read their FAQ. If neither of these work, take your camera to a camera store, like Ritz camera and ask what they recommend.

The number of pictures a card can hold depends on the resolution of the pictures.

Or in simple terms. Buy the largest memory card you can or care to spend.

It totally depends on what resolution pictures you are taking. If you are taking 5 megapixel photos, each photo is 5megabytes. So a 256 megabyte card will hold 256/5 photos.

However you rarely need that resolution especially if you are just going to use your photos online. I suggest you reduce the resolution (usually this is a setting you can change on your camera at the time you take the picture) so it's only 1Megabyte or less. That means a 256Mb card can hold 256 pictures. Even smaller? You can hold over a thousand pictures on some larger cards.

It's a variable number that depends on your current resolution. I routinely change my camera's resolution (and compression, for that matter) getting anywhere from 300 to 999+ (the number doesn't even show on the display) pictures on my 1Gig card.

Check your manual for what kind of cards are supported, usually all arent. SD is the most popular type. How many pics is determined by the resolution that you are going to use. The cards come in different sizes if you have the money just pick a 512 MB card will take more than enough pics...
Cheers

The amount of pictures you can store depends on the quality of the pic. The higher the quality the more memory it takes. Here is a comparison of some cards. Hope this helps

I think you can only take like 60-80 on hi resolution with a 120mb card, but beware, batteries die quick in digital cameras. I usually put one battery upside down when i'm not using it, for some reason it seems cameras suck out the life even when they are off, creepy. get rechargeable batteries if your camera didn't come with them, much less hassle. happy shooting!!

each camera uses only one type of card.
# of pics varies by resolution on 600 speed equalivalent setting, my cf cards get over 425 on a 1 gig card,215 on a 512 card, and about 85 on a 256 card. but only in that camera.
