My son sez storing photos on my computer and posting photos on MySpace is why the computer freezes up or crashes. I have memory and over half my drive is Free so I disagree with him and it's now a huge 'fight'. I usually delete Cookies and Files and History when I'm done. He never does and is on Utube and the like constantly. I'm running Windows98 and every day I have to hit Control-Alt-Delete and its always a "Messenger" problem and I have to shut down and start all over. We had some flooding and I lost a ton of old family photos. So, I bought a scanner and started saving them on my computer. Can someone please help me? Thx. I would do a backup of the drive onto CD's or a USB drive and reinstall your computer with Microsoft Windows XP. You will need about 128 MB of RAM a 10 GB drive(minimum) 32 MB video card and VGA or LCD monitor. Win98 is an old operating system that should definitely be replaced to keep up with today's technology which may be causing your system to malfunction. When the computer freezes up you are more than likely out of physical memory and are using up your reserve virtual memory. This can also cause your computer to produce more heat than usual. Best bet is to move along and upgrade. Hope that helps |
