k so I really wanna get a waterproof digital camera, and a good quaility one too... what are the price ranges do you think?? What's a good brand?? Is there any good websites or stores i should check out?? THANKS! There are many "Weatherproof" cameras but a truly waterproof camera will be bulky and expensive. A weatherproof camera can get wet but can't go under water. Olympus offers many models.

There's really no such thing as a waterproof camera, just ones that are water resistant to a certain depth. How deep under the surface you want to take the camera will drastically impact the price. The other thing that impacts the price is the camera itself. 35mm film cams will generally be pretty cheap ($10 for one-time use ones) to high-end DSLRs with professional housings that cost more than a car.
A camera is protected by a housing. Some cameras come with one, others have one available as an add-on. If you want something for snorkeling depths, there are bags also available and the waterproof disposables.
If you scout around (EBay?) you might be able to find older gear where someone has upgraded. It should be possible to get a nice but older camera with housing for under $150. New, you're probably looking at $250+ for anything that is digital and is rated past 15 feet. Something like the 10MP Canon a640 will cost $500+ for camera + housing with taking a DSLR under costing a lot more.
