Camera memory card to store computer files on?? |
ok maybe this is a stupid question but could i stoermy files onto the less expensive digital camera memory cards??? I have a reader on my computer that is why i thought this might be a good idea You sure can if the computer has a built-in card reader. (Or a USB with plug-in card reader). Now comes the interesting bit, how big are these files because you cannot assume that camera memory cards are always cheaper. My camera xd cards are 128Mb, but my standard usb memory cards are 2GB and up. Memory is just memory (with varying qualities, speeds and sizes). Just to make sure I have just copied some text onto my camera card that contains many pictures, and sure enough the text and the pictures can be read on the computer. (Naturally the camera cannot see text files, but the pictures are still there). I also use my USB mp3 player as memory in emergency. If you can connect it, you can do it, and a modern operating system ( I have Vista) will not need any special software. Hope this helps, but if you are going to record massive files, then high speed usb memory is the way to go. firstly, its not stupid, concerning the quistion, yes you can do so but you might need a card reader or through a camera ... yes What makes you think memory cards are inexpensive - per GB. it would work |
