To all you digital camera owners. What's a good system for turning my pics into a DVD with music & effects
My man and I have tons of digital pics as well as photos stored in our computer. We would like to make a DVD to put them on like a slide show and personal album.

Please share with us a good system that using special effects and music while vewing the pics. Thanks

I have a PC rather than a Mac, and for the PC, I've had very good luck with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0. These allow you to do any cropping/editing that you want to the photos, then put them in any order you'd like, add your music, control effects going from one photo to another, then to burn it to DVD.

I use a Mac, and if your really lazy you can tell the Mac to do it all itself! I use iMovie and iDVD everything is on hte most part automated for you.

Get a Mac, and it comes with iPhoto, iMovie, and iDvd which all work together seamlessly to make a pretty slick but still easy DVD movie.

I was a reluctant switcher, but I had to because Windows would randomly lock up while importing video from my miniDV video camera, now I'm really impressed with OS X. For instance, if you do a slideshow, it can automatically do a Ken Burns effect, which makes each photo move (like zoom in and pan). Simple way to keep a slide show a bit more interesting. With a little more work, you can time your transitions to the tempo of your music, if you want.

I also can't help but to be totally impressed with the ease of adding things- none of the lame "install this software BEFORE plugging in your device," and the lack of viruses.

well, to begin with you can use windows moviemaker (which is included in xp)-it has reasonably good features to add music , special effects etc. you can combine videos,pictures in your album. it is easy to use and intuitive.
But this will not be such a good idea if you want to work with many large video clips (more than 30 min or so)-windows movie maker gets stuck regularly in my case and I use a new Dell computer. (maybe it is a memory/graphics issue).

If you really really want to make pro quality dvd video/photo albums you might want to use apple mac OS X and its iLife suite-i.e if you have a mac or plan to buy one!!

Or you can just wait for Vista and hope that it resolves movie maker issues.
