Hi, my friend is going to USA for some business and has offered to pick me a new digital camera.
can anyone recommend some stores that sell digital (point and shoot variety!) in the san antonio region? Would be much appreciated!
Thanks! Wal-mart, Best Buys, Sears, really any department store will carry them, you can also find them in places similar to Radio Shack. If your friend has access to a military base, all of the base exchanges have top quality cameras.
Note; some folks are not going to agree but I would avoid the regular camera shops, their prices are much higher, they will tell you that it is a better camera but only difference is the model number the quality is no better, just more money. Ritz/Wolf Camera has a huge selection of digital cameras.
There is regular point and shoot, and also digital SLR. You'll find everything for cameras too. Since the store specializes in that, the sales people are very knowledgeable of the products.
That is where I purchased one for my mom as a gift. It's a great camera.
There is one at the Northwoods shopping center on
Hwy 281 and N loop 1604 E. It's on the right side if your coming from the south. I bought my camera at Ritz/Wolf Camera. It is a pentax D-SLR and although it was expensive, I paid for a nice one year warranty and they even gave me some lessons as I am quite an analog buff, but digital is all very new to me. I am able to interchange my pentax analog lenses with the D-SLR and this sold me on this camera. I refused a little digital camera, I wanted the best. My oldest son is working on a photograpy degree and has a Nikon D-SLR and loves it as well. I know some people don't like the smaller shops, and they are a little more expensive, but they are much better able to answer questions as they are specialists. Sometimes the big companies like Best Buy have no time for you or don't know the answers because selling is their specialty not cameras. Even during their slow periods. This is always very irritating to me. There is a place called the Camera Exchange on San Pedro. I have not been there in years, but I hear good things also. |
