Sony CyberShot DSC-W70 pictures turn purple?

Every so often, when I turn on my digital camera, the screen goes purple and the picture becomes really distorted. I cannot figure it out because it doesn't happen all of the time. The battery is good, I just cleaned the lens and I only recently started having this problem. Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
