However, that does not mean you will be happy with a laptop unless it fulfills your particular needs. For example: Do you need to interface with a particular mainframe computer network? If so, you need to contact the mainframe computer system administrator for their advice and then follow their recommendation. You didn't say what the warranty was. I'm not sure about Acer I would stay with a larger manufacture. Dell, HP, or Toshiba. Check the warranties that is what is important if you laptop breaks 91 days after you bought it the your stuck fixing it your self if it is only warrantied for 90. Good Luck The Acer Aspire series of laptops are decent, at best. The main advantage is that they are dirt cheap compared to other manufacturers, like Asus or HP (for a similar configuration). They are pretty light and display is fairly good. The speed of the 5680 will depend on what configuration you choose. The one listed above seems quite decent.
However, if you are buying this computer for gaming, you might consider opting out for a better video card, as the Go 7600 is relatively weak. I would actually recommend ATI videocards for gaming, at least X1600 or X1950. You can also try the X2xxx series, those are "high def", but gaming power is equivalent to X1xxx series' corresponding number (e.g. X1300=X2300)
Now let me tell you why I wouldn't recommend Acer at all. First of all, the battery life is horrible - 2.5 hours is nothing, in reality that translate to 1-1.5 hours of normal use. Also, the Acers have big overheating problems and require lots of replacements in the long run. How do I know? I work for Circuit City and Acer is the #1 problem laptop. I would actually recommend spending $200-$300 more and getting an Asus laptop. Those are reliable, fast, and built by the largest computer manufacturer in the world - in fact, Intel uses Asus motherboards and puts their logo on them. Most of my friends have Asus and not even one complaint... ever. If Asus is not an option for you, HP have also improved significantly in recent years.
Good luck on your purchase. THIS WOULD ALL DEPEND ON YOUR NEEDS FOR YOUR LAPTOP. ACER IS DEFIANTLY NOT A BAD COMPANY. PLEASE INFORM ME WHAT YOU PLAN TO DO WITH THIS COMPUTER, AND I WILL BE ABLE TO FURTHER ASSIST YOU. |
