Are sony vaio's any good?

im thinking of getting a new laptop - have dell inspiron at the moment, just wondering what are the sony vaio's like, they look damn sexy but are they any good - i have a sony mp3 player and digital camera , i use my laptop a lot for music and photo.
Ive heard the battery life isnt good, but my dell battery wasnt that good anyways.
appreciate any opinions

Theyre okay, but it really depends what your'e using it for. In your case, music and photos. Vaio's is okay for that but If i were you, I'd get a Hp laptop. Easy to repair, cost a lot less, usually has good battery life, and if anything goes wrong with it, it usually comes with 2 hard drives, one the main, and the other is the recovery. All you have to do is activate the recovery hard drive to have your computer back in normal condition or even a brand new conditon. I'd reccommend that.

Vaios do have infamy of being short on batteries, but unless you're actually timing, you won't notice any of it. They are pretty good computers, with great horsepower in some of 'em. I'm using an older Persario series 2200 model, so I'd like to switch out in a heartbeat. I'd say go for it.

I like the Sony Vaio. I heard that they are expensive to repair. I
think twice about getting one because it appears too thin. I wonder how they cram all those electronic parts inside. I would
stay with the Dell. They got good ratings in Consumer Reports
as one of the better laptops. I know almost everyone has a Dell
laptop where I work. They are very popular with my associates.

yeah there good

when it come to laptop or pc . it is the pc that is the best laptop dont last as long as the desktop pc

The one thing about the sony computers is that they are overpriced. You can almost always find a better computer for less than the Vaio. However, like you said they are stylish devices. That is the market they target, high-end boutique environments.

In all honesty the average user doesn't even need top of the line hardware. I'm a developer and my two machines are a 5 year old desktop and a 1 year old laptop (that was considered low to midrange at the time I bought it).

I would honestly recommend an HP laptop. That is the brand I'm currently using and I haven't had a single complaint with it.

I love my VAIO, mine is a desktop one and is very good, never crashes, easy to install all types of hardware from sony, all the devices I use like camera, phone, walkman are Sony so they just get along really well. It also likes the ipod software, canon software and the DVD writer drive that comes with almost every VAIO runs many kind of brands of DVD-RW. Also, most of my friends own VAIO laptops, no matter what kind of them, the smallest ones and the sturdiest ones have great layout and when I've worked in them have never gave me any trouble. Battery life is good in general for a laptop.

i own a vaio and a sony cyber shot camera no complaints on either the nice thing is you can take your memory stick from from your camera and put it in your computer so no cords needed
