How much time does a 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery for a laptop give you? How much time does a 12 Cell give you?

I'm looking for a laptop and would like to know how much time a 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery gives you and how much time a 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery would give you? Also people say that you NEED to get a laptop with 60GB for the hard drive at the least. But is it that much different if I got a 40GB hard drive? Would it run really slow? I know it depends what you're going to do, I'm just going to load and save digital photos on from my camera and do internet stuff and maybe a little word processing. But I also want to make sure I'm going to have a good internet connection (really good) <-- any suggestions for internet? do i get the LAN pro wireless? do i need bluetooth? I'm really confused on all of that stuff

For the battery part of the question, it really depends on the laptop and what you're doing. If you're listening to sound while doing other stuff, your battery will not last as long. Using Wi-fi decreases your battery life. The other hardware in the laptop (such as the CPU, etc.) also affect the battery life. Mostly, you need to get the info on each specific model of laptop from the manufacturers to compare this.

For the hard drive (HD), 60 GB is good, 40 GB is fine and won't affect how the laptop runs. HOWEVER, if you're saving a lot of digital pictures, 40GB will obviously fill up faster than 60GB, but both will eventually fill up. I recommend making sure you get a CD or DVD burner in the laptop to write your pictures to CD or DVD - after putting them to CD or DVD, you'd be able to delete them off the HD without losing them. Either size will work, though.

Bluetooth does not give internet connections, it is used for communicating wirelessly with other, very close accessories (such as mobile phones, headsets, speakers, etc.). It has a range of 12 ft or something like that (I don't remember the exact distance) - anyway, not very far. Wi-Fi (802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g) are the way to go - I'd recommend 802.11g since it's backwards compatible with 802.11b. Only get 802.11a if you know you've got a place to use them. Some cards support all 3, which is the best of both worlds (but usually also more expensive). These are the wireless internet connections. An internal LAN card is also a good idea, since it will allow you to use a wired network connection where available.

A 12 cell would give you almost double the time a 6 cell would, length depends on the maufacturer and the computer. If you are going to just do web surfing, email, document creation, and a little photography, you should be fine with 40GB. But, make sure you get at LEAST 512mb of RAM, 1GB if possible. A card reader will make photography SO much easier. Most people don't need bluetooth, but if you want max Wireless performance, get the pro wireless card.

Hope this helps!

it completely depends on your system and the age of your batteries.

He isnt trying to stike up a conversation. he want to know info.
The amount of cells doesnt mean anything. what you need to look for is the Watt hours(whr). in order to calculate the life, divide the watts hours by the watts it uses each hour. a core duo uses 25watts, plus 1-2 watts for every device attached. If you have a 63whr battery and you are using 30watts it will last just over 2 hours.
If you use a lower setting on your cpu and a dimmer setting for the screen, it can last over 3 hours. If you have a 12 cell, its only about 90whrs, not even 50% more, so it could last 4-5hrs at most.

About the wireless, any wireless card will do, and centrinos all come with one. thats a requirement of being a centrino.
What you should be aiming for is at least 1.7ghz(unless getting a core duo, all of them are very powerful), 60gb hard drive, and 512mb ram for about $700. A core duo would be good for $800.
