How Much Do Batteries Cost in China?

I heard they are very cheap there.

I have a digital camera which uses 2 AA batteries.

I was thinking about taking my rechargeable batteries and charger to china... but that would mean buying a power converter so the charger with the u.s. plugs can work in china. specifically Shanghai, Beijing.

so what would be the best thing to do? take my rechargeable batteries, charger and buy a converter from an electronic shop?

or just buy batteries there?

i will be living in china for 5 weeks this summer.

Ordinary 2AA batteries cost US$0.20 a pc. but not longlasting. Cost more at Hotel stores but you can buy them at any corner store in Shanghai. In case they don't understand just show them a sample. The power supply is 220V but every reputable
hotel have 110v as well otherwise just ring house-keeping and they will lend you a converter for the duration of your stay.

yes.they are very cheap. less than one $.and the charger don't work in china. but if you like,you can buy a charger in china, it's very cheap too.

China manufacture lots kind of batteries. It Very Cheap.

You don't need to buy a converter. Most newer hotels (especially ones catered to international travellers), apartments and houses use outlets that support the US plugs with two prongs...but not the ones with 3 prongs. If, by chance, your hotel doesn't have the correct outlets, you can buy a power strip for less than $5 USD at any electronics store that supports the 2 or 3 prongs. Even though China outlets are 220V and US outlets are 110V, I have no problems charging my shaver or my digital camera's Li-Ion battery in the factory charger or even using my laptop while plugged into a power strip.
