Can sony batteries be used in non-sony cameras?

my dad bought sony rechargeable ni-mh batteries. problem is his camera is not a sony model. i know sony is quite choosy with its accessories. are these batteries compatible only with sony products (e.g. digital cameras)?

You can use ANY brand of rechargeable AA size NiMH battery in ANY brand of camera that uses AA size batteries.

So...your Dad can use his Sony batteries in his Canon, Fuji, Kodak...or whichever brand of camera that he has!
