I need advise from someone who is knowledgeable on digital cameras and their chargers please?

The camera is a Vivitar Vivicam 5340s. It has a small square light gray battery that goes into it. Then to charge it you plug it into a cradle and the plug looks similar to a cell phone charger plug for my Razr. It seems like it won't charge now. What should I do?

I can't tell if it is charging just a tiny bit or not at all. But everything is plugged in right as far as I can tell and it just simply will not charge anymore. The camera is only about 7 months old. Do the batteries need replaced eventually? Or what is going on? Help!

Err I meant advice, not advise! Sorry!

Well I think you do need to replace the batteries. Yes they lose their charge if you don't use them for a long time. Also if it isn't charged frequently they will not be able to regenerate even if you recharge. It is often recommended that you recharge at least once a month even if you don't use it.

I've had the original batteries on my camera since I got it 2 years ago. It seems the charge only last about 3/4 as long as it used to. I am having to frequently charge it more often. I store the batteries at half charge so that it doesn't completely drain and can't be recharged back. It is also a pretty good camera and battery so these tend to last longer than the cheaper stuff.

If you have a multimeter you can test the charge of your battery. You can buy it at any home hardware store for about $5 to $10.

If you actually used the RAZR charger to charge the battery then you may have shorted something out in the camera and may need more than new batteries. Be sure to only use chargers for their appropriate use as amps are different in most chargers example a razr charger should not be used for a blackberry; although they look the same the amps is different and can short out and cause long term damage to a blackberry.

Got ya but you would be suprised how many people do actually do that sort of thing sorry was just trying all of your options not calling you silly.

sounds like you need a new battery
