It's a SonyDCR HC40 MiniDV Digital Handycam Camcorder w/ 120X digital zoom.
After the battery died, I plugged it in to charge and the plastic in the little outlet on the camera seemed to break. Now, the camera won't stay on without being plugged in to the wall.
Does anyone know what happened, how to fix this, where to take it if it can be fixed, or, if it would be the cost as much as a new camera, any suggestions on a good digital video camera that I can make good short movies with. Sorry to hear the bad news. You should first try to buy a new battery to see if maybe it was just the battery that is no longer holding a charge. If it still does not work, your best buy will be to buy a new camcorder, as it will cost you $200+ for them to even look at the camcorder. If you bought it within the past year, you have the Sony 1 yr parts warranty (but you still must pay the labor and shipping costs which start around $200). If you bought it in the past 90 days, parts and labor are still covered and contact Sony immediately. If you purchased it a retail store, did you buy any type of service plan or extended warranty? It usually covers if the battery stops holding a charge. If none of the above work, you need to buy a new camcorder. Buy another Sony because it will more than likely use the battery you have, so you will have an extra battery which can be helpful. You might want to consider an extended warranty, as it will usually cover cleanings, parts, and labor. Some stores even offer an accidental damage one which will cover it if you drop it, etc. WELL WORTH IT!! i feel bad 4 u!!! buy a new 1 |
