Looking for a new digital camera?

one with at least 6 megapixels
different scene modes (night scene, portrait, kids, sport etc...) that kind of thing
im also looking for one with at least 3x zoom and a lithium ion (rechargable) battery
does anyone have suggestions?

to that first one, thats a great answer, do you know what model it was?

The Canon SD series with IS (Inage Stabilization) are are a great line of cameras. I am a pro photographer, and I wouldn't recomend the sony Cybershot T series cameras at all. Sure they are compact and quick slider design, althought the lens can't take in a good amount of light to get an extraordiany shot. I would recommend a camera that has a lens that comes out from the body. By far the best beginer camera is the SD camera with IS. Hope it helps! Cheers!

Sony Cybershot is amazing! Im 13 and its worth every penny i spent on it. I have a 7.2 megapixel camara increadable zoom, and wonderful settings. Id really recommend it.

Take a look at Nikon L12. It's a great camera with 7 megapixel sensor, 3X zoom, a bright 2.5 inch LCD, several scene modes and a price tag of about $150.

you can find some great deals this time of year. year end sales..holiday sales..new model..old models out. we just picked up a cam canon a710is..its 7.1 mp..big lcd screen.6x optical zoom.all those modes.. tkaes recharge batteries or reg.remeber DIGITAL zoom is really crap to sell the cam..optical is what your looking for. anyways..this was under $200 as a closeout

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras and learn as much as they can from the internet.
Go to the store and hold them and try them to see what they feel like and how they take pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

I'm getting this camera soon (and it's going to be my first). I have done a lot of reasearch for my self and decided to get this one because it had all of the things you mentioned plus it's really thin and easy to fit in your pockets. The other thing that caught my eye is that it can take 380 chots on one charge. So check out the sites I've listed, and see if it meets your requirements.

I like the sony cyber shot they have the best deals on all cameras here http://www.monstermall.org

I just bought a Fuji Finepix F31fd & like it a lot. It fits your specs and cost about $230. The two great features are nearly zero delays after tripping the shutter and excellent sensitivity when shooting in low light.

The one negative is that this is my 3rd Fuji & they seem to be rather fragile. If you buy one, make sure to buy a padded case for it and handle with extreme care.

Th perfect camera, everything you just listed is included in this camera, including the rechargable battery.
I own the canon sd750, and I love it compared to the previous cameras that I have owned. I bought it because of the high review rates for the price of $279. It has 7.1 megapixels and has a rechargable battery. One of the many great features is it takes 1 second to turn on, and your ready to take a picture, so you can almost instintly take a picture, once you know your subject. It also has great features like color accent mode (accents one color and the rest is black and white) or color switch mode.

You can also use a sd card and it can hold well over 1,000 pics with a 2 gig SD card. It can aso take well over 20min of video with the same card, the video quality is really good. This card can cost about $45. The camera itself is really small and thin, for all the features it has. You can download pics and video to your computer by using mini usb cable included with the camera. Overall I think this camera would be perfect for tourism, sport events, events, and protraits.
