I am looking for a camera that is easy for first timers to use, takes good pics, and is priced moderate. I am hoping to stay around or under 200. And I don't want to go through batteries almost daily like my mom does. Any suggestions? And why do you pick that one? I have a Nikon coolpix L1, 6.2 megapixles, and I love it!

It seems now you can buy it for about $150 new on Amazon. It may look crappy in that photo but it is the greatest thing.
-easy for beginners, just point and click.
-takes great non-flash photos with superb color.
-can record small bits of video.
-uses 2 batteries, but make sure they are LITHIUM if you want them to last a while!
-I love the macro feature, so you can get up close with your subject and take really awesome photos.

Good luck and I hope you find an awesome camera! Check out Canon PowerShot A630. 4X optical zoom, 8 megapixels. Has manual controls in addition to auto, very good on AA rechargeable batteries.(Your Mom probably isn't using rechargeable batteries---regular alkaline batteries weren't designed for use in digital cameras). Will give you excellent 8X10 print.
PS In rechargeable batteries you must charge them first before using. Fujifilm Finepix F10. It uses a rechargeable li-ion battery for an awesome battery life. It's $150 or less if you shop around. It's cheap because it's old, not because it sucks. |
