My sony digital camera only blinks [power light] but doesn't completely turn on. What might be the problem?

The batteries are fine. Before this happened, I literally opened the camera to fix another problem. After closing it, the camera refused to completely open. Anyway, it is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72. Hope you could help! Thanks!

I had this happen once with my Kodak and I turned the camera off, took the batteries out and then gave it a minute or two and put them back in and the problem went away and didn't return. It was apparently a logic hangup and taking the batteries out reset it. There may also be a reset button (small and you have to use a paperclip or something to push it) that you can press to reset the camera's software. Hope this helps.

maybe your batteries are out. some battery brands dont work at all with digital cameras and just fizz out even if they are brand new. try buying rechargables. its a lot cheaper in the long run

That's very strange, i'm having the exact same problem with mine..same model. I havent been able to figure it out yet, thinking of just buying a new one..sorry i have no solution..

Unless you are an electronics whiz, you should not be pulling apart any camera. I am sure there is a warning of this somewhere in the cameras manual! Good luck with it anyway!
