Are generic rechargeable Li-Ion batteries for digital cameras as good as the name brands?

can i trust a brand like Lenmar? thanks.

Lenmar is actually quite reputable.

Generic brands are more like the no-name batteries off eBay. Those are risky; there's a chance the battery could short circuit internally and start a fire or even explode.

Usually though, I recommend sticking with the manufacturer's battery because of compatibility issues (manufacturers sometimes stick a chip in the battery that's not available in the generic battery, keeping generic batteries from working).

That is risky.

If your camera is still in warranty, stick with the OEM batteries.

Unless the battery has EXACTLY the same specifications, then don't risk your camera.
