Thank you for recommondations on a digital camera.?

I am interested in spending less than $250 for a camera with the following features.
5 or more Megapixels
Fast turn on time (less than 2 seconds)
Fast time from shutter release to picture taken (for action shots)
sD card
Li ion battery
4X or better optical zoom
Overall decent quality pics
Decent flash performance
If you have a good recomondation but it is more than $250 I am still interested.

Thanks again

This is a great place to delve into the
digital camera information superhighway.

You won't get a quality camera for $250

canons picture quality is really good

Go for a Nikon Coolpix. Yes they are more than $250 but they do have what you are looking for. Honestly, you really can't get a decent camera for under $250 for what you are looking for. The more options a digital camera has, the more they cost.

Kodak Easy Share - have many varieties and takes great pics - though you'll have to buy your own SD card, and I found a great battery charger that comes w/ 4 batteries - alot cheaper than buying batteries all the time, because your camera will eat them up (highly suggest recargable batteries.) Only paid $149 for mine, but just bought my daughter same thing at Walmart for $99

Well, you're definitely pushing it with a $250 dollar limit.

There is the Fuji Finepix F30 at the very edge of that price range though. I've been looking at this cam for a little while because of the picture quality, but I think it matches your requirements pretty closely also.

Check the link below for more info.

The Canon Powershot A540 matches your specifications exactly.

The good news is, Sears has this on sale from 6PM to midnight on Saturday (12-9-06) for $129.99, so you'll have money left for a decent memory card.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_revi... says, "Shooting performance was very robust for a consumer model. From power up until the first image was captured measured just 1.8 seconds, and waking the camera from sleep mode to image capture took only 1.1 seconds. Shutter lag, the delay between depressing the shutter button and capturing an image, was less than 1/10 of a second when pre-focused, and only 2/10 of a second including autofocus." Also, "The A530 also offers a continuous (burst) mode, that Canon claims can capture images at a rate of 2.1fps. I found it was a bit more impressive than their claim to being able to capture 10 images in 3.2 seconds flat; a frame rate of about 3fps. This means you will have no problems when taking burst sequences at your kid's sporting events."
