Is it ok to always on and off my digital camera?

i don't know when to take the next picture, so i keep switching my camera off, then on, then off, etc.. i do this to save battery, is it ok? or can i keep it on for a while.

yes!!! it's ok...to turn off your digital camera.....when it's not in use........
but,,if your cam have a standby mode,,,instead of turning off,,it's better to switch it in standby mode......
>>>>>>>>>so,dont be afraid in switching off your cam....
>>>>>>ReMeMbEr: You just saving battery on it.......it doesn't matter to turn off....

I leave mine on if I think I might use it again soon, but it half shuts down anyhow after a few minutes with no use. There's no harm either way.

it should have a battery saving mode, and switch its self off, as turning it on and off uses more power.

it is better to leave it on,it takes as much power to cut it off and on,airplane mold is the way to go.

When not using, turn of,if not using for a long time, remove
batteries.

I think that would be excessive at the most. I don't see it harming the camera the worst that could happen is you could wear out the switch, highly unlikely though. If you are at an event and are taking a picture here and a picture there just leave it on. If it will be 15-20 minutes between shots you may want to turn it off but if it is just a couple of minutes wait it out it won't hurt and does not use that much battery power just be on (the flash is what uses up the power). I always keep a pair of new batteries in my camera bag just incase the ones I am using run down, never hurts to be prepared!! Good Luck!!!

The machine probably has a 'timed shutdown' feature, so that if you don't switch it off, it'll do it for you. This feature will be controllable, so that you can choose how long it waits before closing down. However, switching off a lot might not save the battery.

If the lens retracts when you close the camera down, you'll be using up battery power by doing this. A more economical tactic might be to switch off the screen while you're not setting up a shot (the screen uses a lot of power). Most cameras give you the option, usually with a 'DISPLAY' button or menu.
