Help choosing a point and shoot digital camera?

I currently have a Kodak Easyshare CX7430 that I bought 12/04. I dropped it and it broke. So, I need to replace it. I have been very happy with this camera, but decided since I need a new one I should improve on a few things:

*I would like more than 4 MP (what I currently have).
*I currently have 3X optical zoom, but would like more.
* I hope to use the same battery: NiMH rechargeable battery pack.
*I own 3 SD cards: 1GB, 256MB, and 128MB. Is this sufficient for a newer camera with more MP?
*I can't afford a lot...$200ish is what I am looking to spend.

I worry that with a camera that has more MP, it will make the camera slower. Anyone know about this?

Any suggestions that fit this criteria?

Thanks!

digital camera GUIDE
be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions

buy a canon A550 or A560
compare there features, for that go to
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_...
they both costs less than $200
they both r 7mp
they r 4x optical zoom
ur sd cards will work with them
so u need to choose anyone camera out of the two

I'll agree with the recommendation for the A550 or A560.

Your cards are perfectly adequate.

It might take longer in theory to save a larger file, but the increased speed of cameras these days will probably offset any differences. It's not really noticeable compared to an older camera.

I would like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
4. It's very small and light;
5. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
6. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
7. And the price is a mere $120 [sold at Samy's Camera, Staples.com.]

Good luck!
