What should you do if you spill water on your digital camera?

Accidentally spilled water, camera was off. I took out the battery and memory card and dried them off, then dried off the camera as much as I could and let it sit over night. Safe to turn on?

Hi, it will be good to turn it on and let the camera heat dry off the rest of the moisture inside. The longer you let moisture to sit inside, the more it is going to cause damage. So turn it on and use as normal. You had already done what you can by drying the card and battery compartments. Short of opening up the camera casing yourself and drying the inside. If you are still uncertain or the camera is an expensive one, bring it to a camera servicing centre and let them do it for you.
Your camera should be able to withstand normal spill, it cannot take a dunking for sure.

Better wait another day! or take a blow dryer too it and see if you can blow through the crevaces. ONE DROP OF WATER WILL RUIN YOUR CAMERA!

Yes as long as you have left it sit long enough to dry out it should be safe to turn on

HI I DID THE SAME THING YOU SHOULD USE YOUR HAIR DRYER AND BLOW WARM INTO YOUR BATTERY COMPARTMENT AND CARD COMPARTMENT BEFORE YOU PUT THEM BACK IN THIS SHOULD SORT IT OUT FOR YOU

Just let it sit for 24 hours. I don't think you should blow dry it with your hair dryer because it will probaly mess it up more because of the heat. The same thing happened to my camera, after the 24 hours it should be safe to turn it on. If it doesn't get another one, or return it.

dry it off

Holler out "OH SH*T" as loud as you can and pound your fist on the table or wall, whichever is most handy as you scream it out.

I recommend a week or more before trying to turn on the camera. And it also helps to use hairdryers or something to help frying, I mean drying it.

Well if you turn the camera to soon, you risk having a short in the camera's circuit. But if you let it too long, it's also not good since moisture ruins camera (and any electric device)
