How does my digital camera remember the date and time?

i've always wondered how certain electronic devices eg. digital cameras keep track of time and date when i remove the batteries

Oooh. I thought you meant how can a camera also be a watch. But that would be dunb. To answer your question, they have a fair-sized capacitor in the circuitry to hold it over until you replace the batteries. Ain't technology wonderful?
