How do I get my digital camera to work?

It has never been used. I put newly charged alkline batteries in and the camera will not work? Regular alkaline batteries wouldn't help it work either !! What am I doing wrong !!! It is a Vupoint ......

Yes I turned it on. That is what I meant when I said it wouldn't work. I hold the on/off switch on for a minute and the camera will not come on. I should have explained it first. Sorry !!! I'm not a total idiot. lol And I read the instruction booklet cover to cover several times.

It's called an On/Off switch, and you will find it somewhere on your camera! It has an "I" surrounded by an "O."
