SVP Digital Camera Problems?

Here is the problem with the camera: when the memory card is not inserted the camera starts up normally. However, when the card is inserted the camera freezes on the welcome message/screen and you are only able to turn off the camera by removing the batteries. I have contacted the SVP customer service but they have not gotten back to me. Any solutions to my problem?
