Im buying digital camera....need opinions?

Im currently looking for a very basic camera. 2.0MP or just enough to take regular sized pictures for printing. I want to be able to store a lot of pictures on my camera before having to put them on the computer. I would like basic optical zoom but I also am looking for a camera that has a high battery efficiency so im willing to go without the optical zoom for that. I like the thin camera's and I like pretty colors as well but that isnt the most important thing when im picking my camera. Is there a camera that fits close to this?

You've asked a good question, so let me answer in detail:

1. You want at least 2MP. Dont worry about that. Even cheap digital cameras come with at least 3MP these days, and most are more like 5 or 6.

2. You want a very basic camera. In that case, you want a compact digital camera. Go to the store and play with the buttons. Whichever camera you understand (like what each button does) that's what you buy. Keep in mind, the camera in the store will probably not have batteries so don't expect the thing to actually work.

3. You want to be able to store a lot of pictures. In that case, when you buy the camera, buy a separate memory card that works with it. For example, my camera uses an xD card. The biggest xD card is 2GB, so I bought one of those. Even at the best setting, it will record 700 pictures.

4. You want a basic optical zoom. Most digital cameras come with a 3X optical zoom. That's really all you want, since you probably can't hold a digital camera still enough to use a higher zoom anyway.

5. You want battery efficiency. My digital camera has a little rechargeable Li-ion battery. I've been extremely happy with it, especially since I can just plug in the camera to recharge it. Some cheap cameras make you remove the battery and put it in a charger, which I find annoying.

By the way, I've been extremely happy with my camera (Fujifilm Finepix F10) but it's discontinued. I've heard the sequel (F30) is even better but I haven't tried it. It's several hundred dollars so I don't know if I'd recommend a newbie buy it.

Canon makes a really good camera. Take a look at the Powershot A530. Its a 5.0mp camera. It has decent zoom. The 1.8 in LCD is small enough not to drain the battery fast like larger LCD's. It has 4x optical zoom which is fairly good for a compact camera. You might find it hard to find a 2.0mp camera these days since cameras are pushing all the way up to 16mp now. 5.0mp will give you excellent photos going all the way up to a 8x10 easy. Hope this helps :)
