*SoulEyes Photography>>>Digital Camera battery

I have a digital camera and it sucks up brand new batteries in about 2 hrs. Why!!!!!?

my camera is an HP photosmart 635

Camera was reviewed by www. steves-digicams.com and he stated battery life on this camera was disappointing. It sucks batteries like a vampire sucks blood. Get NiMH as suggested by steve.

You don't say which camera and what kind of batteries, but some generic advice might be useful. The LCD can drain batteries pretty quickly. Turn it off when not in use, or use the viewfinder when practical. The flash can drain batteries pretty quickly, too. And the quality of the battery makes a big difference. Lithiums, although more expensive and harder to find, last significantly longer than alkalines.

So does mine They are a high powered device it takes a lot of juice to run them. get the good batteries that are made for digital devices and they will last a little longer. The cheap ones will not last in a digital camera

it's because regualr batteries do not last long in digital cameras because they use so much power.you will need to buy rechargeable batteries that come with a charger. you can buy them from Walmart, Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. They last a LONG time. and all you have to do is recharge them when they die which takes about an hour depending on the batterie type.

i went thru the same thing, so i purchased a 15 min rechargebale battery and recharger and always have fresh backups, and 15 min is nothing to wait when you dont have to pay again for throwaways, there a little more money at first but longrun cheap as you can go

Large LCD viewfinders eat batteries. It seems nice to have a big LCD monitor, but they are power hungry. You will have to do what you can to turn the thing off as soon as you don't need it any longer. Look for "Power Save" in your menu. Set it to shut off at the shortest possible innterval after you take the picture. Set it so that it doesn't not display unless you tap the shutter button to wake it up. Even this will not go a long way towards conserving batteries. It's too bad you didn't know this before you got a camera without an optical viewfinder. If it's brand new, maybe you can take it back.

Of course, rechargeable batteries are the way to go, but you might want to get some Energizer e2 Lithium batteries for cameras. They cost twice as much, but last four times as long.

mine does toooooo
i even tried buying the ones that are just for digital cameras and cost like 23$ for one and they were dead just as fast

Get rechargeable AA batteries. Normal AA batteries are drained almost instantly in some cameras which take A LOT of energy. High energy devices take high energy batteries. Try to get some NiMH 2500 mAh (energizer has some). I sell digi cams and most customers don't believe that the cameras don't work well with normal double AA batteries.

Probably ur liveview is on

Digital cameras need a lot of battery power.
And, your 2.1MP HP 635 camera, is now quite old and outdated, so it would definitely not be as power efficient as the newer cameras of today. It's also most likely to be quite slow in performance.
I would suggest that you buy a new camera and buy high powered rechargeable NiMH batteries and a charger...or get a camera that comes with it's own rechargeable lithium battery.
