Do Lithium AA Batteries really last longer for my digital camera? They're expensive!?

So it says it lasts 7 times as long as the alkalines. Since the alkalines lasted one day...these are suppose to last me a whole week?

Yes, lithium batteries do last longer than alkaline.

Expected life:
Depends on how much you use the camera.

You might try rechargable batteries instead (if recommended for your camera).

Yes, they really do last longer. Engergizer has a branch that makes them and they're not terribly expensive. That's the kind I use, and they last much longer than normal AAs.

Usually the lithium batteries are rechargeable batteries. This is usually why they're so expensive. Digital cameras usually come with rechargeable batteries. It's better to use a rechargeable battery anyways and is more cost effective. The amount of usage depends on how much you use it.

For a while I had that same prob, but if you want some good advice, get the rechargeable batteries, it'll cost you a bit but you can recharge it, good batteries, like Duracell or energizer, some of your best batteries, lasts about 4 days, then you can throw them away, and they are also expensive. You wont make a mistake with rechargeable batteries, take it from someone who's been there, who's done that, who's got the bills...

yes, they last longer. but i would recommend buying rechargable batteries. you can usually buy a charger that comes with two AA or AAA batteries for around $8-$10.

Yes they do last longer. How much? Well that depends. Do you stop using your camera after the batteries die that day and say the batteries lasted one day? If you still have time and battery power would you still be shooting and if it took twice as many pictures, would it still be "one day"?

My suggestion is that if you are going through a set of AAs a day, get the 15 minute rechargables from Energizer. I have the 15 minutes charger and 8 AA batteries that I use to power my digital camera and Wiimotes for my Nintendo Wii. It's by far the best money saving investment that I have ever made.

Consider this, $9.83 for a set of batteries that would last as you say seven days. Or you can buy a 8 pack of regular energizers that last 4 days (2 per day) for $5.68. The extra 3 days would equal $4.26 (5.68 / 4 = 1.42 x3 = 4.26) Therefor you would have to spend $9.94 for the same amount of batteries to keep you camera running just as long.

For $29.39 you can buy a 15 minute energizer charger which comes with a set of 4 AA batteries. These will charge anywhere from 500-1000 times before you need to buy new ones.

500 X 2 = 500 X 1.42 = $710 (x 2 because you have 4 batteries or 2 sets of two)

$710 represents the amount of money you would spend buying regular batteries before the rechargables died (assuming lowest lifespan, that value could be higher if the batteries last longer)

Once the batteries die, it only $12.34 to replace the set with a new set of 4. If my honest opinion, if you are going through batteries that fast, consider the rechargables, it will be the best investment you make.

buy rechargeables
problem solved

Tom's right on the rechargeables, but if you don't want to hassle with them - my son says that the lithium cost twice as much but last at least four times as long. His experience would not support the "7 times" claim, but they are still a better value than alkalines.
