Can anyone recommend a good digital camera?

Okay, I don't know the first thing about digital cameras but I'm looking to buy one and I don't know where to start!!

I have roughly 拢100 to spend but can go a little bit more if it's really worth it. Ideally I would like one that has a built in battery that you charge like a mobile phone, but I want it to last a long time. I want it to be relatively small and obviously I want it to take good pics!

I want to be able to take a lot of photos and not use all the memory but I'm guessing that has something to do with memory cards rather than the actual camera? (seriously, I know nothing!)

I've looked at loads of review websites but they just confuse the hell out of me! Basically want a good camera that's going to last me a long time and take lots of good pics!

If you do make a specific recommendation, please could you let me know why you recommend that particular camera?

THANKS xx

your best bet is to get a camera with a desent make such as Canon, Nikon, olympus Sony etc. and those brands all do the small cameras (conpact) that you want. the battery life isn't to do with the size of the camera but as you said it's to do with memory cards. these are not expensive to buy. Some cameras have whats call an internal memory which is kind of like a built in memory card. but the thing to watch out for there is that they tend to be very small. try to buy a memory card at least 512mb which on avarege holds 600 photographs. don't buy a meomory card before you buy a camera as different cameras need different memory cards.
a battrey should come with the camera and new cameras dont tend to have AAA battries but tend to have lithium iron battreis which are good as they are rechargable. its always best to buy a spare battery as there is nothing wors than your camera shutting off when you see a good photograph.

if this confuses you buy a camera around the 拢150 and make sure its a well respected make.
the most important thimg is to have fun.
good luck !!!!!

Sony cybershot are generally pretty good, try www.pixmania.com they generally have the best deal and are quick to deliver.

Check into www.cnet.com
They have a section that does reviews that are easy to understand, and list the best by users and cNet staff, and then you can sort them by price and features.

Happy hunting. BTW, I have had 2 Kodak Easy Share cameras, and both broke in a year...I would pick a different brand or style.

This little cam is a bit more than your budget, then it will do everything you will ever need...in style.

It will slip in my shirt pocket, you can get (currently) 8gb memory, that will run for about 6 hours of video, however, battry will only last about 1.5 hrs. How many Stills.... Lots.
As to downloading, a normal video cam with tapes takes forever, this, because its files on memory takes minutes.
Looking back, you ask about memory cards etc, how many you get on a card is dependent on the density in megapixel of the camera, and your subject. A fairly hi-resolution pic may be a megabyte, thats 1000 pictures per gigabyte. The bigger the 'file size', the more you can blow it up electronically. Look at the Optical Zoom, the electronic zoom just blows up what you have.
That little Xacti camera will do stills, movies or audio.

I have an HP 425. It is small, easy to use, I never even read the manual! It takes great pictures, and a 1gb memory card will allow it to hold about 1100 pictures. And yes, a memory card is what allows for the number of pics. It will only take up to a 1gb. The only thing is that it doesn't have a docking station to recharge the battery. But battery chargers can be had for cheap. I paid $85 for mine online, thats only about 43 pounds. I also bought an HP 837, it is just as easy to use, you can get a docking station, but it has better picture quality, a larger viewing screen, and has a LOT more in camera features. They are about $230 or 116 pounds.
Another option, one I looked at too is a Kodak, you can buy them in kits with the docking station for about 126 pounds, sometimes more, sometimes less.

my suggestion
go to yahoo shopping
digital cameras
digital camera GUIDE
be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions

you can try olympus stylus 810...i use it....good quality of photo shooting..

Even though I personally own this ultra compact camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
4. It's very small and light;
5. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
6. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
7. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
8. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
9. And the price is a mere $120 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Review(s) can be found at www.amazon.com [Query: "Nikon Coolpix L10" along with pictures provided by satisfied purchasers.]

Good luck!
